FCA Certified Body Shop
Tony’s Body Shop met the standards to become a Chrysler FCA Certified Body Shop
Tony’s Body Shop is recognized by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles as a FCA Certified Collision Repair Facility. This is the family of Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Ram, Mopar, SRT vehicles. This particular certification is done through an independent third-party non-profit hired by FCA to manage its certification process, called OEC Collision Performance Network. OEC Collision Performance Network does a yearly audit to verify that the required training equipment and tools are at Tony’s Body Shop to be able to repair their cars.

As part of the training, it is a requirement that a certified shop hold the status of being ICAR Gold. Icar is the collision industries place to learn about the different makes. They keep track of all the training a collision shop’s personnel has taken in the past and needs to take in the future to keep up with today’s changing vehicles. They also have classes to certify shops in welding, resistance spot welding, aluminum welding, brazing, and many other hands on training classes. The format of the training courses are on-line, virtual, and hands on.

Understanding the FCA Certification

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has established a comprehensive certification program to ensure that its vehicles – ranging from rugged Jeep Wranglers to high-performance Dodge Challengers – are repaired to the manufacturer’s strict specifications. Achieving this status is not a simple administrative formality. It requires a significant investment in technology, training, and facility upgrades.

Our certification is managed through OEC Collision Performance Network, an independent non-profit organization appointed by FCA to oversee the network. We undergo a detailed annual audit to verify that we possess the specific tools and equipment required to fix modern vehicles correctly. This ensures that when you bring your car to us, it is being treated with the same level of care and precision intended by the factory.

A cornerstone of this certification is our status as an I-CAR Gold Class shop. This designation represents the highest level of training in the collision repair industry. Our technicians engage in ongoing education to stay current with the latest advancements in automotive technology, including complex welding techniques, aluminum repair, and advanced driver-assistance systems. This continuous learning is a mandatory requirement for maintaining our standing as an FCA Approved Auto Body Repair facility.

The Critical Difference: OEM vs. Aftermarket Parts

One of the most significant benefits of choosing a certified facility is our philosophy regarding replacement parts. Modern vehicles are built with “crashworthiness” in mind, meaning every component plays a specific role in how the vehicle absorbs and distributes energy during an impact. We believe that your vehicle deserves genuine Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts.

In contrast, many insurance companies may pressure repair shops to use aftermarket or “copy” parts to reduce costs. These imitation parts often lack the strict quality control of the original components. They may not fit perfectly, can suffer from durability issues, and, most alarmingly, may not perform predictably in a subsequent collision. We have seen firsthand how aftermarket parts, such as wheels, can fail catastrophically under stress where an original part would have held up. By choosing an FCA Certified Body Shop, you are choosing a team that advocates for the use of genuine parts to protect your safety and your vehicle’s integrity.

Why Choose a FCA Certified Body Shop?

It’s important to choose a FCA certified body shop because
A non certified shop doesn’t have to meet the ICAR Gold requirement. The goal of any certified shop is to return a collision damaged vehicle back to the manufacturer’s pre collision specifications. Cars are built with crash worthiness in mind and many have crash star ratings. This is why it is important for a certified hop to push for original parts replacements, versus any aftermarket parts. Aftermarket, also known as simply “copy parts” are just that, copies of parts. The original parts are built with strict guidelines from FCA dealing with things like fit, finish, durability in the outside elements, as well as being able to perform in a collision impact. Aftermarket parts are simply copy parts with zero requirements from any manufacturer.
FCA Certified Body Shop

I have seen aftermarket parts, like wheels, break apart in a collision impact. They react very differently from an original wheel would. This is why choosing an FCA Certified Body Shop is so important. Sometimes an insurance company pushes very hard for a consumer to go to one of their Preferred shops; some of these shops may be certified shops, but also may not be. It is up to the consumer to know where their vehicle goes for repairs. Many, but not all, insurance company programs are put in place to save money because they get a discount from the shop as payment for the referral. In California, the consumer has the right to choose their repair shop.

Should you opt to choose Tony’s Body Shop, you will only pay your deductible if you have one and get to choose a shop that advocates for the proper repairs of your car. One way to save money is to not use original parts. It is the shop that repairs the car that warranties the repair, not the insurance company. In all of these insurance lists of shops or programs, the body shop is made to sign a contract that it will warranty the work should they decide to participate. Remember “you have the right to choose” who repairs your car.

Navigating Insurance Claims and Your Rights

The insurance claims process can be confusing and stressful. Insurance carriers often have “Direct Repair Programs” (DRPs) and may attempt to “steer” you toward a shop on their preferred list. They might imply that using a shop outside their network will complicate the process or void your warranty. It is crucial to understand that these claims are misleading.

In California, you have the absolute right to choose who repairs your vehicle. The warranty on the repair work is provided by the shop itself, not the insurance company. When you choose Tony’s Body Shop, we assist you with claim management and ensure that you receive a safe and proper repair. Our loyalty is to you, the vehicle owner. We ensure that you only pay your deductible (if applicable) while receiving a repair that meets factory standards.

Comprehensive In-House Services

We strive to make the repair experience as seamless as possible by offering a wide range of in-house services. This reduces the time your vehicle spends off the road and ensures consistent quality control.
